Inaugurates additional accommodation of GBHSS Gund, GBSS Lawaypora; Lays foundation of GHS Maloora

SRINAGAR, MARCH 18 (KNO) : As part of the ongoing infrastructure development in the education sector, Minister for Finance, Education and Labour Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated various building blocks and laid foundation stone for High School in Srinagar's Batamaloo constituency.

On the occasion, the Minister was accompanied by MLA Batamaloo Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLC Khurshid Alam, Vice Chairman KVIB Mansoor Hussain, Director Education Dr G N Itoo, Chief Engineer R&B, MD Housing Board, and other concerned officials of the Education Department, SMC and SDA. At Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gund Hasi Bhat, Bukhari inaugurated three storied additional accommodation for students constructed by R&B Department at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari said Government is committed to further strengthen the existing infrastructure in schools across the State.

He asked MLA Batamaloo to look for more space in the surrounding area for the construction of additional space for the school. Pleading for insulating educational activities from disturbances, he said disrupting academics for serving political interests is like pushing the society into perpetual darkness. While addressing the teachers, the Minister said it is incumbent upon teachers to make classroom activities attractive for students. The Minster, during his visit to Government Boys Secondary School Lawaypora inaugurated three storied building and announced the furniture and construction of toilet for the school.

He also announced that the school will be upgraded to Girls Higher Secondary School for the non-science subjects. He said that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is keen for the uplift of girls in the state and many initiatives are in pipeline to achieve the goal. Later, Minister visited Khawaja Bagh in Maloora and laid the foundation for Government High School. The school is being constructed at an estimated cost of 1.15 crore. The project will be executed by J&K Housing Board.(KNO)
